ADVERTISEMENT FOR THE POST OF ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT
1. The Organization
The East, Central and Southern African Health Community (ECSA-HC) is a
regional organisation set up in 1974 to promote the highest possible standards of
health among member countries. ECSA-HC is mandated to foster among member
states, cooperation that will lead to the strengthening of health care programmes in
the region. The Secretariat implements its activities through specific programmes in
Family and Reproductive Health; Food Security and Nutrition; Health Systems and
Services Development; HIV/AIDS and Infectious Diseases; Human Resources for
Health & Capacity Building; Research, Information and Advocacy and Monitoring
and Evaluation.
2. Title of the Post: Administrative Assistant
The East, Central and Southern African Health Community (ECSA-HC) based in
Arusha, Tanzania invites applications for the Post of Administrative Assistant
from suitably qualified persons who are nationals or permanent residents of the
United Republic of Tanzania.
3. Purpose of the post
To provide efficient secretarial and administrative services to the Organization.
4. Specific Duties
· Typing letters, reports and minutes
· Filing and processing outgoing mails
· Sending, receiving and managing electronic mail
· Handling visitors and maintaining the diary of the Programme Manager
· Making and receiving official telephone calls
· Responding to routine correspondence
· Organizing and servicing meetings, workshops and conferences
5. Education, professional qualifications and relevant working experience
An advanced Certificate of Secondary Education and a full Secretarial diploma. At
least three years experience as an Administrative Assistant. A degree in a relevant
discipline will be an added advantage.
6. Skills required
· Full secretarial skills
· Office management practice
· Computer applications
· Good communication skills
· Excellent knowledge of both oral and written English and Kiswahili.
· Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Age: 30 – 45 years.
7. Remuneration Package
An attractive package will be offered to the right candidate. The package details
may be obtained on request from the Director General, ECSA Health Community,
Arusha, Tanzania.
8. Contract Appointment
This is a three-year contract appointment renewable upon successful performance.
